Dear Sudbury Staff and Families:

As you may be aware, earlier today a tragic shooting occurred at a Newtown, Connecticut elementary school. Our hearts go out to the students, staff members and families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School community.

This news is quite difficult for adults to digest and is likely to have an even greater impact on students who learn of this tragedy. If your child exhibits fear or unusual reaction related to this news, please be in contact with the counselor or school psychologist at your child's school. We will be observant of student behavior at school and we are ready to assist in any way necessary. A brief resource for talking with children about violence may be found at: http://www.nasponline.org/resources/crisis_safety/talkingviolence.pdf

The safety of your children is our most important work. We take purposeful steps to continuously review and update our safety procedures. Annually, we review our Crisis Plans and hold Lock-Down drills in partnership with the Sudbury Police and Fire Departments as part of our ongoing work to ensure school safety.

As always, please contact me if you have questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Anne
