Dear SPS Families,

I am writing to provide you with an update on our transportation challenges.  This morning I held a meeting with First Student (local and corporate representatives), Bella Wong and Sherry Kersey, Lincoln-Sudbury administration, Chief Nix, Don Sawyer, SPS Director of Business & Finance, and Annalisa Michielli, SPS Transportation Coordinator.  At the meeting we discussed our concerns related to safety and timeliness of all routes and we reviewed the requirements of the current bus contract.  As a result of this meeting, we will be implementing route changes that will go into effect tomorrow.  In addition, we will add a bus and designate several routes that do not combine L-S and ECMS for Monday, September 11, 2017.  We will not change all routes at this time. In particular, there will be no changes to the routes that are working well. All changes will be posted on both the SPS and L-S websites and families impacted by changes will receive an e-mail from Annalisa Michielli.

The changes to bus routes/times that were made for this week resulted in minor improvements, however, we are not satisfied that those improvements are adequate.  The first priority for our school systems and First Student Bus Company is safe and timely arrival to school and home on a daily basis.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve transportation services.  Please continue to be in direct contact with us when you experience difficulties so we may address issues as soon as possible.  We very much appreciate the feedback we have received and we are working diligently to facilitate safe and timely arrival at school and back home for all students who ride the bus.
